What to Know

  • Jeurys Familia was arrested on Halloween
  • A complaint alleges he caused "bodily injury to another"
  • The Mets All-Star has pleaded not guilty to simple assault

The wife of Mets pitcher Jeurys Familia said her husband was drunk and "going crazy" in her call to police following a domestic violence incident on Halloween.

Bianca Rivas made several frantic 911 calls to Fort Lee police on Oct. 31 beginning at 2:18 a.m., according to NJ.com.

The 27-year-old closer was arrested and charged with simple assault after police said he caused "bodily injury to another." He's pleaded not guilty to the charge, which carries a maximum sentence of six months in jail.

Familia, an All-Star in 2016, could face a suspension from Major League Baseball if he's found to have violated its domestic violence policy.

The Dominican Republic native set a franchise record with 51 saves last season. He's due back in court Dec. 15.
