Part of Subway Station Ceiling Apparently Falls on Train in Brooklyn, Disrupting Service

Parts of the ceiling at a Brooklyn subway station apparently fell onto a 3 train and the nearby platform, causing delays and service changes Tuesday.

Photos from the scene at Franklin Avenue show bits of plaster and other debris scattered along the platform. Passengers tweeted they had to get off the train and photos posted to social media showed a conductor answering commuter questions as the train sat empty in the near 20-year-old station.

The MTA said only that there was an uptown local 3 train at Franklin Avenue "having issues," and that an investigation was ongoing.

No injuries were reported, but northbound 2 and 3 trains were subject to service changes and the MTA warned of delays on the 4 and 5 lines.
