Zagat Nightlife Voting Begins Anew

Zagat has opened up the voting for their annual NYC Nightlife rankings, asking imbibers to pick and choose their favorite watering holes. The odd thing about the final list is that it's always heavy on restaurants (last year's list has over 20) and many selections are out of left field. Houston's? Sushi Samba? Buddha Bar? Either the voters are trying to emulate Sex and the City or the managers are forcing their employees to vote for their employers in a Paradou-esque scheme. Wouldn't it be more appropriate for some of the nightlife establishments that you and your friends actually spend time in to be make it on the list? It would certainly drive business to some independent business owners during these troubling times, helping them attract legions of new customers who decide where to go based on a collection of random voters. On the other hand, that wouldn't be any kind of improvement whatsoever. Voting is open until January 25, 2010. Carry on.
