This summer, a slew of stores around Jackson Square Park in the West Village closed for renovations, causing locals to worry that their retail strip was doomed. For the most part, their fears were unwarranted. Steven Alan returned today, a couple months after reassuring us they'd be back sometime in August. (Given how construction timetables work, though, they're pretty much right on time.) Soapology, a cosmetics shop next door, re-opened last Saturday, but not every store was so lucky: The much-loved Sweetheart Coffee Bakery seems to be out of commission for good.
