Relocations: Stubbs + Wootton Returns to Madison

It takes a special kind of person to wear velvet slippers with the message "Screw you!" on the toes, but that person's footwear-buying experience has just gotten much nicer with the opening of a new, improved Stubbs + Wootton in the Carlyle Hotel.

This isn't the first time the slippermakers have set up shop on Madison Avenue: The owner tells the Moment that their first location was at 71st and Madison in 1993. Since then, their formula—take low-vamped, gender-neutral loafers, then tweak the preppiness with embroidered symbols like skulls or the aforementioned screw and letter "u"—hasn't much changed, but they've traveled over to Lexington Avenue and now back again.

The new spot, which has been open for exactly 48 hours, used to be a Sigerson Morrison, and it's bigger than the Lexington location— the better to hold the brand's new line of luggage, which comes out this fall.
