Carbonation Taxation

Not surprisingly, a recent poll of New York State voters indicates that a good 60 percent of them oppose a tax on non-diet soft drinks (on the other hand, 84 percent of them want to raise taxes on millionaires). Even diet soda drinkers are 58 percent opposed. You hear that, Governor Paterson? Now go tax something else! Like durian, or natto. Or tofu! [City Room/NYT]
