If you love macaroons the way I do, you're probably always searching for one that isn't prepackaged with a freshness date stamped on the front.
In fact, freshly made macaroons are one of the taste treats of the Jewish holidays -- whether you're Jewish or not.
I recently discovered some toasty on the outside, creamy on the inside concoctions at Le Pain Quotidien, which has a number of New York City locations. These tasty morsels aren't budget or diet busters either at 110 calories and $1.20 apiece. Be sure to ask about the chocolate covered ones, which aren't available all the time.
