The Pains of Being Pure at Heart

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart play the Seaport.

PAINLESS: They’re goth! They’re rock! They’re an indie quartet with a really long name! Local foursome The Pains of Being Pure at Heart will electrify the tall ships and dazed tourists at Pier 17 with an early-evening free show, part of summer’s Seaport Music Festival. 6PM.

NO BULL: Let’s be clear: Bulls won’t be running down West 4th Street. But tapas bar Las Ramblas is still celebrating the Running of the Bulls – the one going on right now in in Pamplona, Spain -- with a festival of Navarrese specialties through Tuesday 7/14. Show up wearing red and white, and they’ll even treat you to a wine-based kalimotxo cocktail. 5PM on. Las Ramblas, 170 West 4th Street (6/7 Avenues); 646-415-7924.

BAD EGG: Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien’ redefined the science-fiction genre, ignited debates about shifting gender roles (Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley = unprecedented female action flick badass), and made us unable to ever look at John Hurt the same way again. Kicking off tonight, Film Forum’s weeklong run screens a new 35mm print for ‘Alien’’s 30th anniversary. Various times.
