Man Offers to Walk Woman Home, Rapes Her at Knifepoint in Central Park: NYPD

A man who offered to walk a woman home earlier this week pulled out a knife and raped her as they made their way through Central Park, police said.

Police said that the 35-year-old woman was at an apartment with a female friend near West 110th Street and Lenox Avenue and the two decided to walk home together at about 9 p.m. on Monday.

While they were in the park, the woman's friend saw a man she knew and introduced them to one another. Police said that afterward, the female friend told the 35-year-old victim that the man would walk her home and left.

Surveillance footage from the scene shows the pair walking through the park for some time. But at some point, the man pulled out a knife and raped her.

Police said that the man kicked out some of the woman's dentures during the attack, and he took her purse as well.

The woman refused medical treatment after the attack, and was initially uncooperative with police.

Anyone with information on the attacker should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
