Police are searching for a robber who violently dragged a woman down a street in Brooklyn as she held on to the purse he was attempting to steal.

Surveillance video captured the brutal robbery at about 11:15 p.m. Tuesday in Sunset Park. Police said the 46-year-old victim was walking in front of 847 57th St. when a man ran up behind her, grabbed her purse and tried to run off with it.

The woman initially didn't let go of the bag and the robber dragged her several feet with the purse, causing abrasions to her back and head, according to police. The robber was eventually able to pull the bag from the woman and ran off.

The victim was taken to Maimonides Hospital, where she was treated and released.
