Storm Team 4

Severe Storms Possible Saturday, But Rest of Holiday Weekend Is Gorgeous

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for Dutchess, Putnam, Ulster, Orange, Sullivan, and Pike counties until 9 p.m.

What to Know

  • Widespread storms and showers are expected Saturday evening
  • Some of the storms could be severe, especially north and west of the city
  • The storms move out early Sunday, making way for a beautiful rest of the holiday weekend

The holiday weekend starts off wet and muggy but will disperse in time for the Fourth of July.

Saturday's widespread showers and storms will clear out by midnight in the city and points west.

Storm Team 4 says lingering showers are possible early Sunday on Long Island, but the day will be mostly dry. Expect highs near 90 degrees with lots of sunshine.

Monday could see an isolated afternoon storm, but it's expected to stay mostly dry with highs near 90 again.

The Fourth of July should bring tons of sun, low humidity and highs in the mid-80s ahead of Macy's fireworks show Tuesday night.
