Suspect Shot at Police in Brooklyn: NYPD

A Manhattan man was arrested Thursday afternoon after he allegedly opened fire on police in Brooklyn, the NYPD says.

The suspect, Calvin Randall, faces attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and weapons charges, police say.

Police officers were investigating a report of a man with a gun at the Red Hook Houses when they found the suspect walking out of a stairwell. He started adjusting his waistband so the officers tried to stop him, according to the NYPD.

The man struggled with the officers before pulling out a.22-caliber gun. He fired once, but no one was hit by the bullet. Officers then took the suspect into custody.

It's not known if Randall has an attorney.
