A 76-year-old New Jersey man has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a young girl, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Renee Munoz of North Bergen is accused of assaulting a 9-year-old girl last Thursday, said the Bergen County prosecutor's office. Munoz, who is married, was an acquaintance of the girl.
The girl immediately contacted her mother after the alleged sexual contact occurred, and the mother in turn called Cliffside Park Police, said the proseuctor's office.
Munoz was arrested the next day and charged with one count of second-degree sexual assault and one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Munoz remains in Bergen County Jail pending his arraignment scheduled for Thursday evening. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.
