A train heading east sideswiped a double decker train at the Jamaica station in Queens on Friday evening during rush hour, the LIRR confirmed.
Police were using a wooden, makeshift bridge to transfer passengers from the derailed train to a rescue train. No injuries were reported from the collision, but scattered cancellations and delays were reported systemwide.
Photos from the collision show smashed and cracked windows and one train pushed up against another.
The MTA called the crash, which happened around 6:30 p.m., a "minor collision" on its website and said delays were continuing into the night.
Westbound service was restored between Jamaica and Penn Station and between Jamaica and Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn around 8:30 p.m. Service was restored eastbound about an hour later.
Some riders could still experience delays, averaging about 30 minutes, the MTA said.
The MTA is no longer honoring LIRR fares on the E, 2 and 3 subway lines.
