Where Did the Fox Go? Fox Escapes From Staten Island Zoo

Zoo officials say the missing fox is fully vaccinated and is unlikely to be a threat to people or pets

Staten Island Zoo officials are looking for a young fox that burrowed out of its enclosure.

The 10-pound, 7-month-old fox is named Montana. Officials discovered that the furry escapee was missing on Monday.

Montana is one of two red foxes acquired by the zoo in July. They had been found wandering in the West Yellowstone area of Montana. Their mother was dead in a trap.

Zoo officials say the missing fox is fully vaccinated and is unlikely to be a threat to people or pets, but members of the public still should not approach it or try to trap it.

Anyone who sees the fox is asked to call the zoo at (718) 442-3101.
