Police have arrested a man they say tried to rape a woman outside the door to her Manhattan apartment on Saturday.
Anthony Ramon, 19, was charged with attempted rape, burglary, sex abuse, public lewdness and stalking, the NYPD said.
Police say Ramon followed the 33-year-old woman onto the elevator of her building on West 172nd Street in Washington Heights around 1 a.m..
When she got off on her floor, Ramon kept following her. As she started to open the door to her apartment, police say he tried to rape her.
The woman was able to fight him off, get into her apartment and lock the door. She was uninjured in the attack.
It wasn't clear if Ramon had an attorney.
