The man who was found guilty in a 2014 Westchester crash that left a New Jersey rapper dead was arrested over the weekend while trying to board a flight that would take him out of the country, authorities said.
Clifford Perkins was convicted of negligent homicide in connection with a fatal motorcycle crash that killed Scott Phillips -- better known by his stage name, DJ Father Shaheed -- on the Sprain Brook Parkway on May 25, 2014.
Perkins then failed to appear for his sentencing on Aug. 3, and the Journal News reports that he was cuffed at LaGuardia Airport trying to fly to Florida for a connecting flight to Jamaica.
He's being held at the Westchester County Jail pending a court appearance on Monday.
Phillips was a DJ and producer of the New Jersey hip hop collective Poor Righteous Teachers.
He was killed after Perkins' motorcycle crashed into the back of a Mazda sedan. The sedan then slammed into a guard rail, spun out of control and hit Phillips' bike, which burst into flames.
