A motorcyclist crashed into a car, which spun out of control and crashed into another motorcyclist, killing him, troopers said

A motorcyclist was killed on a Westchester parkway when a sedan rear-ended by another motorcyclist spun out of control and crashed into him, authorities say.

One motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Sprain Brook Parkway in Elmsford with at least a dozen other motorcyclists when he crashed into the back of a red Mazda sedan, a state trooper said, citing a preliminary investigation.

The driver of the Mazda in turn crashed into a guardrail, then spun out of control and crashed into another motorcycle, which burst into flames. The operator of that motorcycle was killed.

The motorcyclist who crashed into the Mazda was taken to Westchester County Hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the Mazda had minor injuries.

The victim who died was only identified as a 38-year-old man from New Jersey.

Sprain Brook Parkway was closed while police investigated. It was expected to reopen by early Sunday evening.
