Monday's beach trip or barbecue might have signaled the end of summer for many tri-state residents, but the temperatures this week will make them think it's still the height of the dog days.
Another heat wave is expected to bake the tri-state this week, marking the second such stretch of three or more days with highs above 90 degrees in as many weeks, Storm Team 4 says. And thanks to rising humidity, it'll probably feel a good bit hotter than thermometer readings.
After a hot Monday, with highs topping 90 degrees amid muggy, hazy conditions, the heat will kick up again Tuesday, when temperatures climb to 93 degrees.
Wednesday's high could also top 90 degrees, Storm Team 4 says.
On Thursday, much needed rain will move over the region, Storm Team 4 says. The rain is expected to begin in the afternoon as a cold front passes over, quenching the area's drought-stricken grounds and bringing relief from the hot weather.
Rain is expected into the morning Friday, but it should set up for a beautiful weekend with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.
Sunday's high is expected to stall out at 79 degrees, which would mark the first time temperatures have failed to reach the 80-degree mark in more than 60 days.
