Fun Places to Celebrate the Festival of Lights This Hanukkah

This Hanukkah will be a holiday of bright lights and magical events. Don’t miss all the family-friendly festive events going on in NYC.

Dec. 16

Glow-in-the-Dark Family Hanukkah Dinner, Lexington Avenue at 92nd St., will be a luminous night for families. The dinner will be in a room all aglow with glow sticks while you try tasty latkes.The dinner is $36 in the Warburg Lounge. 

Dec. 18

Latkepalooza, 36 Battery Place, will be a rockin party for kids ages 3 to 10. For a mere $10 you can enjoy food, music, theater and hands-on activities for both parents and kids. The Museum of Jewish Heritage is offering free admission for children and grandchildren of MJH/WC/NYTF members.

Hanukkah Playhouse, 129 W 67th Street, is a show of songs, stories, sing-alongs and audience participation games. Children will also be called on stage to join in. Come by at 11 a.m. for the book fair. The performance starts at 1 p.m. and it’s free admission.

Hanukkah Family Day, 1109 Fifth Ave, the Jewish Museum will be a chance for the tiny ones to get creative and design their own Hanukkah lamps. Kids will also get to create a menorah out of found objects in the museum. There will also be a live drawing performance illustrating wonderous stories of the seasons. Hanukkah Family Day starts at noon and it’s free admission.

Dec. 27

Chanukah on Ice, 110th St. at Lenox Avenue, is the perfect opportunity to get with the winter spirit. Laser Rink is throwing a skate party. Skate under the glow of an icy menorah and a giant spinning dreidel. Admission and skate rental is $25 and without skate rental, $18 online. Children under 3 are free.

Dec. 24 - 31

Lighting of the World’s Largest Hanukkah Menorah, Eastern Parkway at Flatbush Ave, is going to be an epic night. Gaze at the 32-foot tall menorah while you dance, eat and receive some gifts. Admission is free!
