A local teacher kept a student half her age after school, but it wasn't to help him with his studying, officials said Thursday.
Melissa Weber is accused of having sex with a 14-year-old boy on seven different occasions after school over a recent four-week period, The Daily News reported.
Weber, 27, won't be returning to MS/IS 8 in Jamaica, Queens, Department of Education officials said. She'd joined the school as a social studies teacher in 2007.
Weber faces seven counts of statutory rape and 14 counts of sexual abuse, as well as one charge of endangering the welfare of a child.
The woman allegedly told the teen not to tell anyone because she'd lose her job, and urged the boy to erase their text-message exchanges from his cell phone, The Daily News reported.
Someone in the school told the boy's PTA mom what was happening, and she found the evidence in his phone, according to the paper.
