Brooklyn Father, Son Beat Cat to Death With Stick: DA

New York City prosecutors say a father and son beat their black cat to death with a stick then tossed the animal into the garbage.

Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes said Monday that Jean Rog Murat and his son Robenson were arrested on charges of aggravated cruelty to animals. He said an eyewitness saw them beating the cat with a stick inside their home on July 12.

Prosecutors say the men tried to discard the dead animal on the street, then threw it inside a bag and tossed it into the garbage.

The witness called police, and the ASPCA's Humane Law Enforcement department retrieved the cat. Authorities say they found the broken stick in the attic.

Robenson's Murat's attorney had no comment. Jean Rog Murat's did not return a call.
