Dave Matthews Band Makes Surprise Announcement to Fans

Band will not tour in 2011

When Dave Matthews Band launches its summer tour in Hartford, Connecticut later this month, it will be the last tour for the band for awhile.

The wildly popular jam-band told fans on it's website Friday that the members have decided to take a break after this summer's tour.

"As we feel the excitement building for this summer, we wanted to let everyone know that after twenty years of consecutive touring, Dave Matthews Band will be taking 2011 off," the band said in a statement.  "We feel lucky that our tours are a part of so many people's lives, and wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible.  We're excited to make this summer one of our best tours yet, and look forward to returning to the road in 2012."

Dave Matthews Band has become one of the most popular music acts of its time with hits from "Tripping Billies", "Crash Into Me" and "Ants Marching", to fan favorites such as "Dancing Nancies" and "Rapunzel".

The group released its latest work "Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King" last year, shortly after the death of founding band member LeRoi Moore
