New French Boutique Opens In SoHo

With the opening of Comptoir des Cotonniers, a French clothing store for women, New Yorkers can enjoy a charming French shopping experience right in the heart of SoHo.

The store recently held its grand opening party with celebrity mother and daughter hosts Susan Sarandon and Eva Amurri.

It was just in September during fashion week when Amurri said that her mother was  “really very very very disinterested in fashion.”

But outside the party even Sarandon had some fashion advise for women dealing with a tight budget. Now "it makes sense to invest in pieces that are classic, " Sarandon said.

Sarandon described the clothing line as "classic" and "pure." She also liked the fact that the company planned on donating a portion of the store's proceeds to charity.

Inside the party guests were served French food like foie gras and of course nearly everyone seemed to be drinking champagne or wine.

One of the most popular hors d'oeuvres was bread topped with fresh lobster courtesy of Smart Catering.

Comptoir des Cotonniers’ COO, Marianne Romestain, gushed that "For French people," opening the company’s first U.S. store in SoHo was  like an "American dream" come true.

According to Romestain, it took five years for the company to open the SoHo store, but they plan to open  "two or  three more stores in Manhattan this year."

The company uses mothers and daughters for its marketing and runway shows and is looking for women to appear in their December 8 runway show in Paris. So grab your mom or daughter and apply online.
