    What to Know

    • Much of the tri-state woke up to rain, snow, sleet or freezing rain

    • The precipitation is expected to taper off around noon

    • A big warm-up comes in the afternoon, with some places in the 50s

After a rainy, snowy morning, much of the tri-state was starting to dry out Sunday afternoon and amid a warm-up that will likely bring spring-like temps to some places.

Parts of New Jersey, such as Toms River, could get near 60 degrees, Storm Team 4 says. Most of central and southern New Jersey can expect to head into the mid- to upper-50s.

Other places can expect a pleasant reach into the 40s. New York City is expected to hit 49 degrees and may even get a few degrees warmer on Monday.

Flooding due to heavy rain is expected in parts of Newark, New Jersey, prompting the city to issue a traffic advisory Sunday morning urging motorists to not travel through flooded streets.

The rest of the week should bring a smile to those who are looking forward to spring. High temps are expected to linger in the 50s Monday before dropping into the mid-to-high 40s Tuesday and Wednesday. Another bounce into the 50s is expected Thursday, with a chance for 60s Friday.
