"I live in a rent stabilized building in Queens. Since I have been living in this apartment I get my lease renewal each May like clockwork from the management company. This year I have not seen it appear even though they keep cashing my checks at last year's rates. I would normally call them to remind them about the lease, but I have had to do some serious repairs in my place due to their negligence. I really don't want to fork over any more money unless they ask for it. The main question is this. Since the lease has not been renewed am I in jeopardy of having it terminated?" [Ask Curbed archive]
