Devils D Mottau suspended two games

Toronto, ON (Sports Network) - New Jersey Devilsdefenseman Mike Mottau was suspended for two games by the NHL on Saturday for elbowing New York Islanders forward Frans Nielsen in Friday's 5-2 victory.

The play occured 3:22 into the third period as Mottau caught Nielsen with an elbow to the head that dropped the forward. Nielsen, after being attended to on the ice for several minutes, was helped off the ice with head and leg injuries.

Mottau received a minor penalty for elbowing on the play.

In 19 games with the Devils this season, the Boston College product and 2000 Hobey Baker Award winner has five assists and 11 penalty minutes.
