A 30-year-old mother has died following an argument on the train in Brooklyn that spilled out onto the subway platform, authorities say.

Police say the woman, identified as Latanya Watson, suffered stab wounds to the face, neck and arm after an argument with the suspect turned violent at the Sutter Avenue 3 Line station around 9:15 p.m. Monday.

It wasn't clear whether the two knew each other previously or what they had been fighting about.

The suspect, a 20-year-old woman who cut her arm in the tussle, was taken into custody early Tuesday after authorities followed a "trail of blood" to a nearby apartment, authorities said. Charges are pending.

An investigation is ongoing, but the victim may have tried to pepper spray the suspect, authorities said.

Cellphone videos of the scene showed emergency personnel carrying the victim down the stairs from the platform with many onlookers nearby. She was transported to Brookdale Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Watson's grieving fiance was at the scene early Tuesday and told News 4 Watson was the mother of a 12-year-old child and that she had worked at the Fairway supermarket in Red Hook.
