A water main break flooded residential streets in Staten Island's Westerleigh neighborhood Monday morning, authorities said.
Water flowed from the broken 8-inch main on Vedder Avenue near Willowbrook Road at about 9:45 a.m.
The water was cut off by about 10:15 a.m. and the Department of Environmental Protection was on scene to investigate the cause of the break.
"It looked like a mini ocean flood," Westerleigh resident Elizabeth Deprima told NBC 4 New York. "It was underneath the cars."
Drinking water was suspended for some of the homes in the neighborhood, but none appeared to be damaged by the water.
