A 31-year-old man was stabbed in the chest in midtown Manhattan Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
The victim had gotten into a fight with several other men in the area of Fifth Avenue and West 31st Street at about 3:45 p.m. when he was attacked, according to the NYPD.
Fabio Garcia was working in an nearby hotel when he ran out and saw the commotion.
"As soon as I came out of the hotel, there was a person laying on the floor, and there was a young lady holding the guy with the chest because he was stabbed in the chest," he said.
"She was just saying, 'just keep breathing, you're gonna be all right,'" he said. "He wasn't even talking, he was just holding onto this chest."
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
Police have arrested three suspects on assault charges in the incident: a 45-year-old Bronx man, a 26-year-old Harlem man, and a 25-year-old man from Washington state.

Police initially said the victim was 16. They now say he's 31.
