A frenzied, sword-wielding man chopped down some trees in an Upper West Side neighborhood before threatening bystanders at Riverside Park Thursday afternoon, police confirmed.
The man, who lives nearby, used the sword to chop down the trees at the 300 block of West 94th Street, according to police. He then ran into Riverside Park nearby and threatened parkgoers.
The unidentified man was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon, marijuana possession and criminal mischief, police said.
No further information was immediately available.
