Storm-Damaged NY Aquarium Plans Partial Reopening

The Wildlife Conservation Society says it plans to partially reopen the storm-damaged New York Aquarium in the late spring.

The aquarium says the loss of its marine life during Sandy was minimal. But damage to its infrastructure was significant.

The Atlantic Ocean spilled over and under the Coney Island Boardwalk. It flooded all of the buildings at the 14-acre park.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said in a statement Tuesday that the partial reopening will mark a milestone for the community.

President and CEO Cristian Samper says the WCS is proud to share the city's "comeback spirit.''
