The snow let up and Sunday brought a bitter cold, with wind chills near and even below zero in the north and west parts of the tri-state.
A freezing rain advisory is in effect Sunday night for counties along and north of I-78 and east, including all of Long Island.
Freezing drizzle develops after 7 p.m. and continues into the overnight. The advisory expires at 3 a.m. Monday for New York City, 6 a.m. for nearby suburbs and Long Island, 8 a.m. for areas far northwest (northern Westchester, Rockland, western Passaic and Orange counties), and 9 a.m. for Sussex, Warren, and Morris counties in N.J.
Slippery conditions are expected throughout the day Sunday and into the night as the cold temperatures re-freeze accumulation from Saturday's storm, which brought between 3 and 6 inches in the tri-state.
Shelton, Conn. had the highest total in our area, with 9.5 inches of snow.
The main threat would be from a very light glaze of ice on untreated surfaces, bridges and overpasses.
