Long Island residents in Nassau County could end up paying higher fees for a number of county services under a proposal by the county executive.
The fee hike proposed by County Executive Edward Mangano, a Republican, would bring in an estimated $15 million in new revenue by raising fees on park activities, parking passes, golfing on public courses, traffic tickets and museum admission, among other things.
It would have to be approved by the Republican-controlled legislature.
Here are some of the proposed fee increases:
- Nickerson Beach parking, from $8 to $10
- Nickerson Beach cabana rental, from $3,400 to $3750
- Eisenhower Aquatic Center annual membership, from $540 to $590
- Greens fees at Eisenhower Blue, from $36 to $40
The vote on the proposal has not yet been scheduled.
According to Newsday, the money would be used in part for new labor contracts.
