1. Oktoberfest Kicks Off This Weekend and NYC Has Tons of Events

Oktoberfest kicks off this weekend in Munich, but don't let the distance get you down because New York has some great spots to raise a pint. 

Head to Frying Pan for a pig roast on the water, to Munich on the East River for New York's most authentic celebration or hit up Coney Island's Fest for Beer by the beach.

2. Head Down to Glen Oaks Village for the Queens County Fair

Now if a slice of Americana is more your speed you will want to head out to the Queens County Fair. 

The event may be in the big city, but you can expect everything you love about a country fair. 

Everything from pie eating contests, pig races, carnival games and rides and ribbon competitions. 

It only costs $10 to get in and children 12 and under are only $5.

3. Dozens of NYC, NJ, CT Museums Offering Free Tickets Saturday

If there is ever a day to go to the museum, then Saturday is the day. 

Some of the city's top ones are among the 1,400 nationwide offering free admission. It's all part of the 14th annual Smithsonian Magazine's Museum Day. 

There is just one catch: You have to go to the Smithsonian's website to get tickets.
