1. Popular FiDi Bar Closes Indefinitely After Fire Breaks Out

Popular Financial District watering hole The Dead Rabbit Grocery and Grog will be closed “until further notice” after a fire broke out on Sunday, authorities and the bar's owners said.

Firefighters responded to bar at 30 Water St. after receiving a report of a fire in the bar’s kitchen ventilation system, the FDNY said.

The department said no one was injured in the fire, but in a Facebook post, the bar said it “received considerable fire and water damage and as a result will be closed until further notice.”

2. Passengers Forced to Evacuate Flight Near DC

There was a scare on the tarmac Sunday at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. 

Smoke filled the cabin of a Mesa Airlines flight that was just about to take off and the people on board had to slide down the emergency slides to escape. 

No injuries were reported.

3. Heavily Armed Men in Helicopter Free Notorious French Inmate

A notorious French criminal pulled off a daring and movie-like escape over the weekend. 

Redoine Faid, who is serving 25 years for murder, escaped after several heavily armed men landed a helicopter in a courtyard, freed him from a visiting room and carried him away.

Faid once blasted his way out of a different prison with explosives hidden in tissue packs.

His latest escape, from Reau Prison, took only "a few minutes," France's Justice Ministry said. Unarmed guards said they could do nothing to prevent it.
