Thieves Pretended to Be Cops, Stole From Woman's Purse in Midtown: NYPD

Police are looking for a pair of thieves they say approached a woman in a parked car in Manhattan, said they were narcotics officers, then stole cash and a cellphone from her purse.

The alleged impersonators approached the 23-year-old as she was sitting in her car on West 29th Street near Seventh Avenue on Dec. 12, according to the NYPD.

The pair said they were narcotics cops and that they needed to search her vehicle. While one of the two men pretended to take a report from the woman on the sidewalk, the other man went into her purse and stole cash and her cellphone.

Anyone with information about the suspects is asked to call crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
