NYPD Hunting for Drug Suspect Accused of Escaping Officers

The hunt is on for a drug suspect NYPD officials said slipped away from police after being arrested late on Thursday.

Arius Hopkins allegedly got away as police tried to detain him near White Plains Road and Arnow Avenue in the Bronx at about 11 p.m., according to the NYPD.

He was being detained after officers allegedly saw him throwing away drugs. Once he escaped officers, he ran into Bronx Park East. That's when the NYPD said that officers lost sight of the man.

Hopkins is described as being about 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing 175 pounds. He has brown eyes, black hair and was last seen wearing a gray sweater. He also has a scar on the right side of his face.

Anyone with information about Hopkins' whereabouts should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
