Woman Allegedly Drove Drunk With Five Children in Car

A Long Island woman driving with five children in her car was arrested at a sobriety checkpoint for allegedly driving drunk, police say.
 
Suffolk County police say the woman attempted to drive through the checkpoint without stopping Sunday night.
 
Police say they determined she was intoxicated after pulling her over. They say the children in the car ranged in age from seven months to 8 years old.
 
There was also another adult in the car.
 
Police identified the driver as Elba Ayala of Shirley. She was charged with driving while intoxicated with a child passenger 15 years old or younger and endangering the welfare of a child.
 
It wasn't immediately clear if she had a lawyer.
 
The checkpoint was on William Floyd Parkway at Smith Point County Park in Shirley. At least four other people stopped at the checkpoint also faces drunken driving charges in separate cases.
