A father accidentally discharged his gun inside his Lower East Side home with his young son nearby, police say.
The father discharged his rifle inside his fifth-floor apartment on Jackson Street Friday, and the bullet struck the ceiling, sending debris flying, according to police.
His 4-year-old son wasn't hurt.
Police said the man was preparing to go hunting and didn't know the rifle was loaded.
The gun was licensed, and no charges have been filed.
