Construction Worker at Site Near Chelsea Market Dies: NYPD

A construction worker at an office complex being built across from Chelsea Market has died after he was found with head trauma at the work site Monday morning, police say. 

Police responding to a 911 call found the 34-year-old worker unconscious and unresponsive on the ground with head trauma at 61 Ninth Ave. just after 8:30 a.m., police said.

He was taken to Lenox Hill Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. 

The site at 61 Ninth Ave. will be a 165,000-square foot office building, right across the the street from Chelsea market and Google's New York headquarters, according to the Vornado Realty Trust website.
