Suspects Sought in String of Break-ins at Queens Community Center

Authorities are looking for two suspects who broke into an Astoria community center three times in four days and stole iPads, gift cards and a camera, among other items.

Police say the suspects, believed to be in their 20s, first broke into the Hanac Community Center, a social services group that serves more than 30,000 people each year through dozens of programs across four boroughs, on Friday and stole an iPad 2 from an office.

Two days later, the suspects broke in and stole two more iPad 2 tablets and a Sony camera.

They struck again late Monday or early Tuesday, prying open a back window to steal gift cards and assorted tools, police said.

Authorities released surveillance video of the suspects (above).

Anyone with information about them or the thefts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.
