69-Year-Old Landlord Found Dead, Stabbed Multiple Times in the Back, on Living Room Floor

Authorities are investigating the death of a 69-year-old landlord who was found stabbed multiple times in the back in the Bronx Sunday.

Police responded to a 911 call at the Cranford Avenue home of Lilawatee Ramsaran around 9:30 p.m. and found the woman unconscious on the floor.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

When firefighters found Ramsaran's body, they found that the stove was cut on and the gas line had been tampered with. There were also candles burning in the home.

Police said that they had interviewed two of her tenants in the case. No arrests have been made, and it's not clear if a tenant is suspected in her death.

Her grandson, Andy Samuel, said that "she didn't deserve" to be killed.

"She wasn't that type of person to have any arguments with anyone, or any fights. She is very humble," he said.

"She is a loving, caring person," said Samuel. "Was a fighter to no one."

Anyone with information about Ramsaran's death should call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
