Wall Panel Falls Onto Subway Tracks in Brooklyn, Delaying Trains

A panel of the wall fell onto the subway tracks at a Brooklyn station on Sunday morning, delaying trains for hours.

The tile panel fell at the 86th Street station in Bay Ridge. A photo showed it lying on the tracks.

About 30 people were on a train approaching the station when the panel fell, the MTA said. The train went over the debris without derailing, but the panel became wedged underneath one of its cars.

Everyone got off the train without injury, the MTA said.

Service on the R line was suspended between 36th street and Bay Ridge-95th Street in both directions because of debris on the tracks, the MTA said on its website.

Service resumed around 4:30 p.m. but the pain was already felt for many riders.

"I'm a little annoyed right now because now it's going to take me a lot longer to get home," Mya Cuneo said.
