A woman was shot in the arm Sunday night in what she said was an attempted carjacking half a block from a New Jersey university campus, officials said. 

The victim drove onto the campus of Kean University in Union after she had been shot, looking for help, police said. 

Police said the suspect fled on foot and that officers were searching for him in the wooded area near campus.
