Adults, 5 Kids Locked in Bedroom During Long Island Home Invasion, Robbery: Police

Police say armed robbers broke in to a Long Island house, locked several people, including five children, in a bedroom and beat a man in the head and body before ransacking the home.

Three or four handgun-armed robbers broke into the home where two couples and several of the children lived on Newkirt Avenue in West Bayblon at about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

A total of 10 people were inside the home when they arrived, including three women, two men and five children between 2 and 9 years old.

The robbers attacked one of the two men before locking all 10 victims inside a bedroom, police say.

They then stole cash and jewelry before leaving the home.

The man who was attacked had minor face, head and body injuries and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip. None of the children or other adults were injured in the break-in.

Anyone with information about the robbers is asked to call the Suffolk County Police Department at 631-854-8152.
