Recession Taking Toll on Better Educated Workers

The city's most educated workers are joining the ranks of the unemployed.

The New York Times says that in the past year, the number of city residents with a college education who are collecting unemployment has risen 135 percent. That's almost twice the rate of increase for people who didn't finish high school.

There are more than 35,000 college graduates getting unemployment in the city. The trend is taking place all over the country, but it's more pronounced in New York City.

The unemployment rate remains highest for workers with less education.
