‘Porn King' Sentenced for Duping 250-plus Job Seekers: Police

A western New York man who called himself the "Porn King" has been sentenced for duping more than 250 people into giving him money in return for jobs in the pornography business that didn't exist

Federal prosecutors announced Thursday that 37-year-old John Northrup of Buffalo was convicted of wire fraud and sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Authorities say Northrup posted online classified advertisements offering employment in the adult pornography industry. Referring to himself as the Porn King, Northrup's ads solicited drivers willing to transport women working in the adult film industry.

Those interested were instructed to wire a one-time deposit to Northrup.

Prosecutors say his company, and the jobs, were fictitious.

In all, he received $65,000 from across the United States and Canada during a 14-month period ending in June 2011.
