Police Impersonator Arrested on Rape Charges: Cops

A man has been arrested for allegedly impersonating a police officer and raping a woman after answering a Craigslist ad for a massage, and police are asking anyone else who may have been a victim to this crime to come forward.

Police say Francisco Rivera, 29, met a 25-year-old woman at a Brooklyn motel on Oct. 26 after answering a Craiglist ad for a massage. Rivera told the victim he was a police officer and showed her a shield, saying that if she had sex with him he wouldn't arrest her, according to police.

After sexually assaulting the woman, Rivera fled from the motel, located on Conduit Boulevard in East New York, police say. He was arrested on Feb. 9 and charged with rape, unlawful imprisonment and criminal impersonation of a police officer, according to police.

It was not immediately clear if Rivera had an attorney.

Authorities have released photos of the suspect, who also goes by the name Aiden Rivera, and the black Mercedes Benz he was last seen driving. Anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Rivera is asked to contact the Police Impersonation Unit at (212) 741-8401.
