Paterson ROTC Instructor Accused of Sexually Assaulting 2 Students

An R.O.T.C instructor at a New Jersey high school has been arrested after police say he was accused of inappropriately touching two students and making sexual comments to them.

Trevor Sanders, who is also a teacher at Eastside High School in Paterson, was arrested Thursday on aggravated sexual contact and child endangerment charges after two students alleged the teacher had groped them, according to police.

Authorities first began investigating Sanders after one of the students, a 16-year-old girl, told them about the abuses. While investigating, a second student also made similar allegations.

The Paterson Board of Education is cooperating with the investigation, authorities say.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the school said Sanders was immediately removed from the school once the district's leadership learned of the allegations several weeks ago. He had worked in the ROTC program since 2013, the spokesperson said.

Attorney information for Sanders wasn't immediately available.

Police say that there could be additional victims, and are asking anyone with information to call 973-321-1120.
